R. D. Raja, who has previously worked as a creative producer for Sivakarthikeyan on films such as Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, Maan Karate, Kaaki Sattai, and Rajinimurugan, has produced his debut film, titled Remo. The movie was supposed to be out on March 14, 2015, however, its release was temporarily pushed back while the screenplay was being finished and the cast and crew were being finalized. On July 1, 2015, the project officially got off the ground with the introduction of the technical staff. The first day of principal filming for this movie was on October 25, 2015, and it lasted until August 2, 2016. The locations that were used for filming were Chennai, Vizag, and Pondicherry.
