Suriya 40 was the working title for the project when it was first disclosed in October 2020. It was also the production's first collaboration with Suriya, who had previously had his films Ayan (2009) and Singam released by the firm (2010). Despite missing three months of production owing to COVID-19 lockdown limitations, started filming on February 15, 2021, and was finished by mid-November. The majority of the film was shot in Chennai, Madurai, Karaikudi, and Courtallam, with a song sequence in Goa.
